Built to be lived in

At Tivoli Tiling, our inspiration comes from the longevity of traditional tiling methods of the Mediterranean. Built to be lived in, built to become part of the earth; withstanding heat, rain and natural earth movements.

The Modern Solution

Drawing inspiration from the past, with modern technology

01. Quarry Selection

Essential for projects with underfloor heating, decoupling matting helps heat distribute evenly and serves as a waterproof layer to protect wiring.

Portuguese, Italian and Spanish tilers hundreds of years ago relied upon sand and lime-based mortars to allow the floor to 'breath' and shift with the earth over time.

We now prevent tile cracking with high-grade anti-fracture matting that serves as a cushioning layer allowing the subfloor to expand and contract.

Air-channels through the material also allow trapped moisture from beneath to escape safely, preventing tile damage.

Working with Natural Variation

When working with natural stone, it's vital to take an artistic approach that works with, not against, the variations in veins, colours and textures.

We always use an artistic eye when arranging natural stone and are happy to discuss these decisions with you.

Sealing Process

We use impregnating sealant that protects through seeping deep into the pores of the tile and grout without altering the appearance of the finish. This repels moisture while allowing trapped vapours to escape and prevents staining and water-damage much more effectively than surface-level sealants.
